SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT

Our Democrat legislators are campaigning on messaging. They say they “support public schools,” “deliver fiscal responsibility,” “protect local zoning” and “defend our democracy.” Here is what that messaging leaves out.

“Support public schools”

Republicans want Greenwich to get back a fair share of the tax dollars we send to Hartford. Democrats pat themselves on the back for getting 20% state reimbursement for Central Middle School, while Fairfield gets 75% for Dwight Elementary School.

20% for Greenwich. 75% for Fairfield. That is the difference between settling and fighting.

“Deliver fiscal responsibility”

Only Republicans have a plan to lower taxes by eliminating waste and fraud. Democrats ignore the waste and fraud, and support a proposed state property tax.

“Protect local zoning”

Only Republicans proposed and voted for common sense amendments to the high-density housing bills. Democrats voted ‘NO’ on every amendment that would have helped Greenwich keep some local control.

“Defend our democracy”

Republicans support enforcing strong election integrity safeguards. Democrats reject them.
