I want to thank you for the trust and confidence you have placed in me to represent you for another term in the state Senate. Representing my home community is the honor of a lifetime, and I will continue to work hard every single day to justify that honor. Over my last term, I’ve had the opportunity to meet thousands of you and hear your concerns, ideas, and hopes for our future. I appreciate those conversations because listening is the best way I can lead.
In our current political climate, much of what we see is defined by division and melodrama, reinforced by a national media that prioritizes conflict. True leadership, however, is about building trust steadily over time. It’s about finding common ground, understanding each other’s points of view, and doing the best we can. I will continue to strive to bring positive leadership to Hartford in this manner and create a better state.
I also want to congratulate my competitor on running a tough campaign this year and thank him for his willingness to serve our state. Most importantly, I want to thank all my supporters and volunteers who made my re-election possible. I will always be grateful for their friendship. And for every constituent, whether they supported my candidacy or not, I will work hard every day to represent you effectively and honorably in the Senate.
Our district sent a clear message last week that we are hungry for positive leadership. We must reduce our sky-high electric bills, cut taxes, protect local control of zoning, and create a brighter future for all of Connecticut. Now that the election is over, I’m most excited to get back to work for our community.
In the coming weeks, I will continue to send my regular updates on important information regarding state and local services, community events, and other announcements. Regarding the legislature, I will update you on my new committee assignments, proposed bills, and proposed bills from my colleagues in roughly that order. There will be major debates this coming year regarding local or state control of zoning and development, raising spending and taxes, or maintaining spending limits and fiscal guardrails, energy costs, health care access, and more. There is a lot of work ahead, but I'm more energized than ever to get to it.
As always, please reach out to me if I can help you with a state service or answer any questions. Thank you again for the trust you’ve placed in me. I look forward to all we can do together to protect our district and make our state a better place.
All my best,
Ryan
