Goldstein Wins Every Town, Takes Approximately 75% of Republican Primary Vote

Goldstein: “The primary is over. Now the campaign belongs to everyone in Connecticut’s Fourth District.”

GREENWICH, Conn. — August 13, 2026 — Dr. Michael Goldstein, Republican candidate for Congress in Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District, thanked voters and volunteers following a decisive primary victory in which he won every town and received approximately 75 percent of the districtwide Republican primary vote.

“Seventy-five percent is a statement. We won every town. The people have spoken,” Goldstein said. “I am incredibly grateful to every voter who placed their confidence in me and every volunteer and supporter who worked so hard to make this possible.”

Goldstein thanked his family and the campaign’s grassroots team—including those who stood outside polling places in the August heat, knocked on doors, made calls, sent texts, put up signs and encouraged their friends and neighbors to vote.

“This victory belongs to the people who showed up,” Goldstein said. “We did this together.”

But Goldstein emphasized that the primary was only the beginning.

“The primary is over. Now the real work begins.”

A Campaign for Everyone

Goldstein said the general election campaign will reach far beyond the Republican primary electorate.

“This race is not just about Republicans. This campaign is for everyone in Connecticut’s Fourth Congressional District,” Goldstein said. “Republican, Democrat, independent, unaffiliated—or someone who has become so frustrated with politics that they stopped paying attention altogether.”

“As a doctor, I don't ask a patient for their political affiliation before I treat them. I listen. I diagnose the problem. I look for a solution. And I try to make their life better. That is how I believe public service should work.”

Goldstein said his campaign will continue emphasizing “federal solutions to local problems” and issues that affect residents regardless of political affiliation.

“The grocery bill isn't Republican or Democratic. Neither is the electric bill. Healthcare costs aren't partisan. Neither are jobs, infrastructure, housing costs or whether your children can afford to build their lives here.”

“These are Connecticut problems. They require solutions, not political labels.”

“I’m Tired of Watching People Leave Connecticut”

Goldstein said one of his greatest motivations for running is what he sees happening to Connecticut families and communities.

“I'm tired of watching people leave Connecticut,” Goldstein said.

“I'm tired of watching young people grow up here, get educated here and then decide their future has to be somewhere else. I'm tired of families wondering whether they can afford to stay. I'm tired of seniors wondering whether they can afford to remain in communities they have called home for decades.”

Goldstein said the Fourth District needs a different approach in Washington.

“Since 2008, life has become more difficult for too many Connecticut families. We have watched jobs and opportunities leave. We have watched generations leave. Costs have risen, and too many people have lost confidence that anything is going to change.”

“If nothing changes, why should we expect the results to change?”

Goldstein continued: “Connecticut should be a place where our children want to build their futures, our seniors can afford to stay, businesses want to grow, and people who have already left have a reason to come home.”

Freedom Is Worth Showing Up For

During his victory remarks, Goldstein invoked General Dwight D. Eisenhower on the eve of D-Day and the sacrifice of the American and Allied troops who landed at Normandy.

“Those young Americans were asked to risk everything for freedom. They didn't know what awaited them on those beaches, but they went anyway.”

Goldstein said the comparison was not between today's political campaigns and the sacrifices of D-Day, but a reminder of the comparatively modest responsibility Americans have to participate in their democracy.

“Nothing we're being asked to do today remotely compares to their sacrifice. Nobody is asking us to storm a beach. We're being asked to care about our communities, participate in our democracy and vote.”

“Freedom doesn't sustain itself. Every generation has a responsibility to show up.”

“I’m Running to Represent You”

Goldstein said his primary victory gives the campaign an opportunity to begin a much broader conversation throughout the Fourth District.

“We won every town and received approximately 75 percent of the vote. I am enormously grateful for that confidence. But 75 percent was not the destination. It gave us the opportunity to begin a much bigger conversation.”

Goldstein said that conversation now includes Republicans, Democrats, independents, unaffiliated voters and residents who believe Washington has stopped paying attention to the everyday challenges confronting Connecticut.

“For too long, I believe the residents of Connecticut's Fourth District have not received the representation in Washington that these challenges demand.”

“I'm not running to represent a political party in Congress. I'm running to represent you. All of you.”

Goldstein said he intends to bring the same problem-solving approach he used in medicine to Congress.

“Listen to people. Understand the problem. Make the difficult decisions. Find solutions. And get something done.”

Something Has to Change

Goldstein concluded by saying the general election will be about whether voters are satisfied with the direction Connecticut has taken or believe it is time for something different.

“We cannot simply accept another generation of the same trajectory.”

“Our children should have a reason to stay. Our seniors should have confidence that they can afford to stay. Businesses and jobs should have a reason to stay and grow. And people who left should have a reason to look homeward again.”

“There may not be much hope for change on the horizon unless we create it.”

“Something has to change. That's why I'm here. That's why I'm running. And that's the work that begins now.”

“Connecticut is worth fighting for. America is worth fighting for. And freedom is worth showing up for.”
