Heather Smeriglio kicked off her re-election campaign at an energized event at the Cos Cob Library on June 12. The community showed its support for her with a strong turnout that included residents and fellow Republican town leadership. The RTC is proud to stand behind this remarkable public servant who has accomplished so much to recommend her continued service:
- During her tenure as Greenwich Tax Collector, Heather has consistently achieved one of the highest collection rates in the state, including a tremendous 99.8% rate over the past year.
- She regularly undertakes rigorous continuing education and recertification courses to maintain her professional status as a Certified Connecticut Municipal Tax Collector.
- Heather serves as President of the Fairfield County Tax Collectors Association, a role that enables her to foster collaboration and innovation in tax collection practices across the region.
- She is an experienced financial pro who spent over 30 years in banking and four years as an account clerk in the Tax Collector’s Office before rising to the position of Tax Collector.
“I am deeply honored by the outpouring of support from Greenwich residents,” says Heather in a press release. “I look forward to working hard this campaign season to earn the trust and votes of our community, ensuring our Tax Collector’s Office remains a model of efficiency and compassion.”
