It's baaaack…

CONNECTICUT DEMOCRATS JUST RAMMED THROUGH THEIR WILDLY UNPOPULAR HOUSING BILL IN A RUSHED SPECIAL SESSION!

No one wants this abomination to become law…

"[HB8002] incentivizes dense, as-of-right multifamily and middle housing in commercial zones and near transit (think Greenwich, Cos Cob, Riverside, Old Greenwich train stations). It still allows multi-unit developments without parking requirements - good luck finding a parking space. It ignores flooding, sewer needs, narrow roads and school capacity. It's the most significant override of local zoning control in CT state history. The bill sets up state agencies to oversee and enforce land use rules, effectively turning our local zoning boards into irrelevant bureaucrats," writes GreenwichWise.

…but Hartford Democrats keep reviving this horror.

Connecticut House Democrats circumvented public debate and passed HB8002 on Wednesday by a vote of 90-56. They fast-tracked it to the state Senate, where the Democrat supermajority passed it on Thursday and sent this town-killer to Gov. Lamont's desk.

IT'S THE HOUSING BILL THAT WOULDN'T DIE!

"[HB8002] destroys our longstanding tradition of home rule. It establishes an adversarial relationship between Hartford and the towns, which I do not think is beneficial to our communities, and it abrogates all of the local considerations and essentially sacrifices them at the altar of affordable housing."

— Rep. Tina Courpas

“HB8002 will constitute one of the most aggressive efforts to take away local control of zoning and other decision making for our towns and cities in a generation. … This is rotten government and everyone knows it.”

Sen. Ryan Fazio
Candidate for Conn. Governor

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO STOP IT?

Hartford Democrats are hell-bent on forcing every town and hamlet in Connecticut into submitting to their vision of mass housing. If Gov. Lamont signs this terrible bill into law, you can bet they will come for Greenwich first. In just six weeks, the state's central planners can team up with greedy out-of-town developers to carve up our beloved neighborhoods into soulless mass housing.

TELL GOV. LAMONT TO VETO HB8002!

Ned Lamont is poised to either save Greenwich or go down in history as the man who sold out his hometown to state commissars and their developer allies — altering this beautiful, orderly, and historic place forever.

THANK YOU, Rep. Tina Courpas and Sen. Ryan Fazio, for fighting against HB8002 and all bad housing bills that usurp local control so Hartford central planners can gain power and their developer allies can get richer.

♥️ Greenwich appreciates you! ♥️
