Why I'm Running For the 151st

Greenwich will be much better off without another politician in Hartford. We need an experienced advocate who understands our community, respects taxpayers, and will stand up for local decision-making. I'm Michael Mason, and that's why I'm running for State Representative in Connecticut's 151st District. After nearly three decades of service on the Representative Town Meeting and the Board of Estimate and Taxation, including 12 years as BET Chair, I've come to believe that many of the challenges facing Greenwich can no longer be solved solely at the local level. Decisions made in Hartford increasingly affect our taxes, our schools, our neighborhoods, and our ability to govern ourselves.

Connecticut — and Greenwich — are at a crossroads.

Families, including our children, seniors, and small businesses are struggling with rising costs. State mandates continue to erode local control over housing, zoning, and community planning. Taxpayers deserve greater accountability from Hartford, and public safety must remain a priority. Too often, practical solutions take a back seat to politics.

The current supermajority in the General Assembly has reduced meaningful debate and weakened the checks and balances that are essential to good government. Connecticut is strongest when different viewpoints are heard, challenged, and improved through open discussion.

When elected, I will fight to protect local control, promote fiscal responsibility, support law enforcement, and ensure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely. I will be accessible, accountable, and focused on one simple question: What is best for the people of Greenwich? My vision is straightforward: a Connecticut where government lives within its means, respects local communities, and creates opportunities for families and businesses to succeed. My campaign is about preserving what makes Greenwich so special. My wife Michele and I are proud members of a third-generation Greenwich family, and we are deeply grateful for the opportunities this community has provided us. We want our daughter Julia to have the same opportunity to build her future here and enjoy the exceptional quality of life, strong sense of community, and local traditions that make Greenwich such a remarkable place to call home.
