Twenty-five years ago this morning, Greenwich lost neighbors. Thirty-two people with ties to this town were among those murdered on September 11, 2001. We remember them. We remember the families who still live with that day. And we remember what this community does when it is tested: it shows up.

This November Is Not a Routine Election

Greenwich voters will help decide whether Democrats keep a one-party supermajority — or whether Connecticut gets balance, fiscal restraint, and local control back. Surpluses and a stronger defense industry do not erase high debt, high living costs, weak job growth, or Hartford’s drive to run town zoning. Connecticut’s unemployment rate hit 5.2% in July against 4.1% nationally. Ryan Fazio, Joe Kelly, Tina Courpas, Jonathan Goldstein, Mike Mason, and Dr. Michael Goldstein are the slate that will change the direction of the state.

Jill Oberlander Is Running Abigail Spanberger’s Playbook

There is a well-worn playbook: take a highly credentialed Democrat, run her as a moderate in a competitive suburb, then watch her vote with the increasingly extreme majority once she is in office. Virginia just lived it with Governor Abigail Spanberger. Greenwich is being asked to trust the same pitch from Jill Oberlander.

Spanberger campaigned on affordability. In office she rejoined RGGI — about $1,100 more a year on electric bills — and presided over new taxes on everyday life. Oberlander calls herself “fiscally conservative, socially more progressive.” Her staffing, her hedge on the fiscal guardrails, and her record on the housing bill say otherwise.

Greenwich Democrats Say They Have “A Seat at the Table.”

Look at what that seat produced: a higher legal THC limit after ER visits climbed, a housing law that can pile planning pressure equal to 20 percent of Greenwich’s occupied homes, and a 2027 budget raid that billed Greenwich and Stamford taxpayers $236 million.

On the housing bill, Meskers voted no on the Republican amendments that could have limited the mandate, then voted a performative no on the finished product. A seat that cannot stop the bill, and will not fix it, is not protection — it is akin to a protection racket.

Thank You, Karen Krause, for your Leadership

Greenwich Republicans thank Republican Board of Education (BOE) member Karen Krause, who, as Board Secretary, designed and led the administrative process which succeeded in filling two sudden BOE vacancies in August.

Karen exercised the Secretary’s responsibilities under BOE bylaws, which include responsibility for supervising the Board Clerk.

Unsurprisingly, there were attempts to challenge, subvert and work around the bylaws-sanctioned process. They did not succeed. With 20/20 vision and a clear memory of recent partisan shenanigans, Karen did not waiver. Her excellent leadership resulted in a process which was 100% transparent and which produced two highly qualified Republican appointees: Jeffrey Csoka and Jonathan Katz.

The full Board interviewed the candidates and made the appointments by vote, as Bylaw 9221 requires. Under Bylaw 9121, Karen Krause single-handedly designed and led the process which the Board was required to follow.
