Fred Camillo's AI Task Force Brings Greenwich Into the Future

15 May, 2026

Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo has formed a Greenwich AI Task Force, a serious effort to bring artificial intelligence into Greenwich town government in a way that saves time, cuts cost, and protects taxpayers. It is exactly the kind of forward-looking work residents should expect from their local leaders, and it is happening here in Greenwich under Republican leadership.

Two Clear Goals

The Task Force is operating on a focused two-goal framework.

First, evaluate where AI tools can make town operations more efficient. That means looking honestly at how town departments handle paperwork, scheduling, public records requests, permitting, and customer service, and identifying the places where modern technology can shorten timelines and reduce costs without cutting service.

Second, develop responsible guardrails for how that technology is used. Privacy, security, transparency, and human oversight all have to be built in from the start. AI is a tool. It works best when it is properly supervised, and it should never be deployed in a way that puts resident data or accountability at risk.

Why It Matters

Town government in 2026 cannot afford to operate the way it did in 2006. Residents expect fast service. Taxpayers expect efficiency. Employees deserve modern tools. The Task Force is the right vehicle to figure out where AI fits and where it does not, and to make sure Greenwich is ahead of the curve instead of behind it.

This is what good Republican governance looks like in 2026. Lean into innovation. Hold the line on accountability. Deliver for taxpayers.

The Greenwich Republicans strongly support the work of the AI Task Force. We are grateful to Selectwoman Rabin and to every member of the Task Force for taking this on with the seriousness it deserves. We will continue to share updates as the work develops.
