Important News in Greenwich

As we enter this 'last month of summer', we hope that you continue to enjoy the long days but also start to look ahead towards an important couple of months for our Greenwich Republicans Team. Turnout is crucial in odd-year elections, so if there was ever a time to step up and get everyone to the polls, this is it. If you'd like to help spread the word, volunteer some time in your district or just need advice on how to get fellow Republicans engaged, please reach out!

We are proud to present our Republican slate of candidates for the upcoming 2023 Municipal elections. These citizens are ready to work for the people of Greenwich. Several new faces came forward with the courage to run for office. They, along with each of the incumbents, bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to our team, and are united and strong on our Pro-Greenwich principles.

When we look at this group of diverse candidates, we see parents of children in public schools, we see residents that want to keep Greenwich a safe place to live and work, and we see citizens committed to keeping our town affordable for everyone, irrespective of family history or economic means.

We are steadfast in our commitment to serving the Town of Greenwich and invite all residents to support our candidates and join them in shaping a prosperous and inclusive future!

We need your help to bring our Pro-Greenwich team to victory in November - please consider a donation today!

Finally, please remind your college-bound kids to sign up to receive their absentee ballot before they head off for school.

Also on the ballot in November will be the election of a new set of RTM members. Now is the time to think about stepping up and volunteering for your town in this important election!

As a reminder, there are 230 elected volunteer members of Greenwich’s RTM broken down into 12 districts proportional to the number of registered voters in each.  These districts select one member and one alternate to one of several standing town committees; for example education, finance, town services, parks & rec. all of which have important roles in our town governance.

If you are interested in running for an RTM seat the way to get on the ballot is by having a petition signed by at least 25 voters registered in the district in which you reside.

Where do I get the petition?

  • The petition is available at Town Hall at this time, or via this link
  • The petition shall bear no political designation and shall be filed with the Town Clerk by 4PM on September 15th, 2023.

Who do I have sign the petition?

  • You need at least 25 signatures from registered voters in your district
  • Make sure that all information (your own and your petition signers) appears as it does on the voter lists.

How do I know what my district is?

  • Your RTM District is the same as your voting District. Greenwich voters go to the same polling place for every type of election: municipal, state or federal.
  • Find your district and other RTM info here.

How long is the RTM position held?

  • RTM seats are for 2 year terms.

What is the time commitment?

  • There are 16 annual meetings (8 RTM meetings, 8 district meetings).
  • You may have additional meetings (up to 8) if you sit on a committee within your district.
  • Note: The RTM does not meet in the months of February, July, August & November

As an RTM Member you would have a voice in shaping the future of Greenwich. Click 'Read More' to learn how!

The RTC James L. Branca Scholarship Fund was set up in honor of our former Republican Tax Collector, James L. Branca, who served in that capacity for almost 25 years. He was a well-respected member of our town and community, and for almost 25 years the RTC has been involved with helping to select deserving recipients. The application process is lengthy and thorough, and once recipient(s) are selected, the funds go directly to the student's college.

Some years there have been enough funds for multiple recipients, but in recent years less so... we would like to reinvigorate this scholarship opportunity and are asking for any and all donations, no amount is too small!

There are three ways to give, the easiest being to please click the button below, or send your check written out to Greenwich Scholarship Association (with "RTC James L. Branca Scholarship Fund" in the memo section of the check) to the following address: GSA, PO Box 4627, Greenwich, CT 06831.

Please save the date for the Annual 'Cos Cob Republican Club Clambake' - the event will take place on Sunday, September 17th. Reach out below for details!
